Iceland 2019

10 years on from my original visit I returned once again, this time with the family to celebrate my 50th birthday. Having only traveled around the South coast first time around, I was keen to travel up the West coast to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, and in particular Kirkjufell mountain. The weather didn’t play ball, but there were some stunning views all the same. We then headed back south, taking in the Geyser and several wateralls, Gullfoss, Seljalandsfoss and Skogarfoss. Then it was on to Jökulsárlón, where we experienced a beautiful mist, which made it all the more special. We also visited the black sand beach on the other side of the road this time, to photograph the blocks of ice washed up on the beach. I may have got my boots wet through (and eventually had to throw them away) but it was all worth it! On the way back we paid a visit to Reynisfjara beach, a stunning location, and with strong winds and large waves it didn’t disappoint.
